Job Title: Medical Assistant (M.A) or License Practical Nurse (L.P.N)
Reports To: Nurse Practitioner
FLSA Status: Non–Exempt
Summary: The position focuses on assisting medical providers with needed responsibilities on a daily basis and providing clinical services to patients by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Escorts patients from waiting area to examination rooms, collects medical history, obtains vitals from patients, and prepares patient from medical provider.
- Ensures all results are documented in patients’ chart.
- Prepares patients for various medical procedures.
- Handles telephone inquiries when possible and schedules sick visits.
- Call in prescriptions to pharmacies.
- Ensure supplies are stocked and re-ordered.
- Prepare examination rooms and maintains them for neat and cleanliness.
- Meet office standards for patient wait time of 10-15 minutes.
- Contact patients with lab results within 24-48 hours after medical providers review.
- Adheres to all HIPAA regulations, established policies and safety procedures.
- Conduct phlebotomy and prepare blood samples and specimens for courier.
- Performs general office responsibilities, which includes data entry and scheduling appointment for patients as needed.
- Participate in the execution of community events.
- Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with direct patient care.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Certified as a medical assistant or licensed as a nurse in NC.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
